After each structure is dismantled, the ghostwood
is brought to our facility in Jerome, Arizona and prepared
for the grading process. The first step in grading is
selection. The ghostwood is sifted through,
and the initial selections are made outside. These primary
selections are moved into the shop for the second level
of grading.
It is during the second level of the grading process
that our team determines how the ghostwood
is going to be used and how good the wood is.Ghostwood
cannot be bought in stores. Every board is different,
so it needs to be graded many times throughout the process.
The final step is determining which Ghostwood
boards will be used in the final furniture. We pull
boards that marry together well and all match. The wood
for each piece of furniture is hand selected.
